About the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) to design, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems and services.
The role will focus on Java backend development, microservices architecture, system performance and reliability, and the delivery of system enhancements. The successful candidate will also provide technical guidance to the development team and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable and reliable backend services using Java.
- Lead technical design for new features, system enhancements and architecture improvements.
- Develop and maintain microservices applications using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
- Design and optimise APIs, databases, caches and message-queue components.
- Monitor and optimise backend performance, including response time, throughput, database efficiency, caching and system resource utilisation.
- Design and support high-concurrency, high-availability and distributed systems.
- Troubleshoot production incidents and implement appropriate monitoring, security, protection and recovery measures.
- Conduct code reviews, guide backend developers and maintain technical documentation and coding standards.
- Work with product, development, QA and operations teams to support deployments, ongoing operations and project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of Java backend development experience, with at least 2 years in a team-lead or backend technical-lead capacity.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and MyBatis; experience with Dubbo or other microservices frameworks.
- Experience with MySQL, Redis and message queues such as RocketMQ, RabbitMQ or Kafka, including SQL optimisation and cache design.
- Proven experience designing and supporting large-scale, high-concurrency backend systems with strong performance, availability and reliability requirements.
- Good knowledge of distributed transactions, distributed locks and high-concurrency system design.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, and familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as ELK or SkyWalking.
- Exposure to payment/order systems, A/B testing, recommendation systems, Elasticsearch, Flink or StarRocks would be an advantage.
- Good analytical, problem-solving and collaboration skills, with good written and spoken Chinese, including Mandarin, and working proficiency in English.
